The Lamp Room
The name originates from the room where miners would collect lamps before their shift.
As Seaham is such a close-knit community, holding it’s heritage close to it’s heart, choosing a relevant name was essential.

bekoubetts2024-12-01 Please review your gratuity process :-) You know what, I had a good laugh, and a very good feed here. My mate did a solid job on the five tapas set option and I had a lovely rib eye (medium-rare) with a sauce of peppercorns. The young lady who looked after us deserved a tenner tip and my friend and I were most disappointed when she told us we can only tip in cash (rather than the Apple Pay route we were taking) which doest sit well - you want incentivised servers at all times, and the prospect of a gratuity is an excellent incentive. We didn’t have any cash between us btw. Place was vibing on a busy Sat night. I was relaxed and felt welcomed by the staff. And the other diners looked as pleased as us. Good crowd. Tom D2024-10-26 Fantastic food and staff. Haven’t been to LR for a while but won’t be leaving it that long again. Chowder was excellent. The rest of the party had sandwiches which were well filled and delicious. Staff were superb and very professional. Rebecca H2024-10-10 Tremendous Tapas Visited tonight for tea. 5 dishes for £32.50. Excellent variety to choose from. Food came out quick and piping hot. Everything was delicious. Ingredients were fresh and amazing quality, the flavours were outstanding. Service from Emma was exceptional, she was lovely and friendly as were the other servers. We will definitely be returning for a weekday treat. Sandy W2024-10-03 Lovely lunch venue We stumbled on this restaurant after a walk on the Durham sea front. Lovely staff and delicious food. The fish chowder was really good. Super place to dine at. Anna P2024-09-29 Outstanding food and service We are regular visitors to the Lamp Room. We went last night as a family for a birthday celebration. We ordered tapas and steaks, the food was as always absolutely exceptional, the tapas were very tasty and large in portion. The steaks were fantastic. The staff and service is excellent, the staff are polite and friendly and go above and beyond in service. We love the lamp room, but also can’t wait to try your new venture Tide as well. Thanks again for a fab night Nick F2024-09-20 GOOD PLACE TO VISIT We lived in Seaham many years ago and decided to take a 'walk down Memory Lane' while recently staying in the area. Looking for somewhere to eat after so many years away was something of a lottery, so we decided to take a chance on the Lamp Room and were therefore pleased to find such a warm welcome from the staff on our arrival. There was also a varied menu on offer that should be suitable for all tastes. The food subsequently turned out to be of a very high standard, although the portion sizes were on the small side. Notwithstanding that one point, we would happily visit the Lamp Room again and have no hesitation in recommending it to others looking for a pleasant place to eat in a much rejuvenated area. Norhern Explorers2024-09-14 Ideal Lunch Spot Visited yesterday for lunch. Plenty of choice on the menu which made it hard to decide. Opted for the Parmo with spicy beef and have to say it was top notch. Could not fault the service in any way. Will definitely be visiting again and may look at visiting one evening to try the Tapas.Tripadvisor rating score: 4.5 of 5, based on 1061 reviews
